Canadian River Regulator's "Mom" (CRR Company A #41) -- aka Cynthia Ann May -- aged 91, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012.  Mom was a founding member of the Regulators and served as the clerk (secretary) until 2005. She's most famous for her Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake and her cookies. 

Our thoughts and prayers are with her son, Steeldust Dan (SASS #2731 & CRR Company A #1) and family members.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 in St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Jim Wallace officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

"Mom" (Cynthia Ann May) was born June 19, 1920, in Altamont, MO to William and Phoebe Thompson.  She was a founding member and secretary of the Canadian River Regulators.  She volunteered for many years at the Swisher County Museum and Archives in Tulia.  She also served as secretary of the Oakwood Cemetery Association in Milan, MO.  Cynthia grew up working in her father’s drug store, W.O. Thompson Drug Store in Milan and during the late 1940s, she was co-owner of May & Megrew Drug Store in Milan.   Cynthia was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert J. May; a sister, Mary Catherine Megrew; and an infant son, David Griffin May.

Survivors include her son, James May of Amarillo, two nieces, Maggie Megrew of Amarillo and Mary Beth Megrew of Atlanta, GA and a nephew, Peter and Kim Megrew of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3001 Bell St.  Amarillo, TX 79106; to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159; or to Odyssey Hospice, 6900 I-40 West, Suite 150, Amarilo, TX 79106.
